Waia ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal finance tracking application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.
Summary: We collect only the data you provide (account info, financial records, posts). We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising trackers. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
1. Data We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and password (required to create an account)
- Display name, username, bio, city, and occupation (optional)
- Profile photo (optional)
Financial Data
You may voluntarily enter the following to use the app's tracking features:
- Assets (stocks, crypto, real estate, cash, etc.) — name, category, quantity, purchase price
- Liabilities (loans, credit cards, mortgages) — type, amount, interest rate, payment schedule
- Financial goals — name, target amount, target date
- Income and expense transactions — type, category, amount, date
- Budget limits per category
- Watchlist items (ticker symbols)
Social Features
- Posts, comments, and likes you create
- Images you upload to posts
- Users you follow
AI Coach Conversations
- Text messages you send to the AI Coach
- Voice messages you record (processed for transcription)
- Conversation history
Subscription and Purchase Data
- Subscription plan type (monthly or annual) and status
- Trial start date and expiration
- We do not collect or store your payment method details — all payments are processed by Apple through the App Store
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Location or GPS data
- Contacts or address book
- Browsing history
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Health or biometric data
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or behavioral tracking SDKs

5. Device Permissions

All permissions are optional and requested only when you use the relevant feature.
6. Data Security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt
- Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain)
- Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure users can only access their own financial data
- Database hosted on Supabase with managed encryption at rest
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- Your data is retained as long as your account is active
- You can delete individual records (transactions, goals, posts, conversations) at any time within the app
- Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data from our servers
- Uploaded images (avatars, post images) are deleted along with the associated records
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your data is visible within the app
- Correct your data — edit any record at any time
- Delete your data — delete individual items or your entire account
- Control visibility — toggle ranking and portfolio visibility in settings
9. Children's Privacy
Waia is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
